As a runner, you probably know the importance of hydration. But even though water is essential for keeping you hydrated during your run, it’s often overlooked. Many runners believe that they need to drink expensive sports drinks in order to perform and stay hydrated. But in reality, it is not really the case.
In fact, water is just as effective as sports drinks for most runs lasting less than one hour. It is true that when you run longer than that, your body starts to run low on vitamins and minerals which are essential in water absorption. Sports drinks contain electrolytes, which can help replenish these lost nutrients and therefore keep you hydrated.
However, for runs shorter than an hour, your body will have plenty of mineral reserves and water alone will do a great job to keep you strong and hydrated.
So, if you’re looking to save some money on your running expenses, don’t underestimate the power of water. It’s just as effective as those costly sports drinks and it’s free!
